‘Undercover journalism’ is a form of reporting in which journalists conceal their identities or true intentions to gather information that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to obtain. This method often involves the journalist posing as someone else, using hidden cameras or recording devices, or gaining access to restricted areas under false pretences.

‘Cyber-vigilantism’ is when people take the law in their own hands on the internet, without seeking help from the legal system. This includes the creation of name-and-shame websites for perpetrators, crowdsourcing and leaking of private information of such individuals etc.

‘Voluntary simplicity’ refers to the promotion of a simple lifestyle that rejects materialism and consumerism. Examples of voluntary simplicity includes substantial reduction in one's possessions and spending.

'Deinstitutionalization' refers to the process of reducing or eliminating the reliance on large, centralized institutions, such as psychiatric hospitals for the care and treatment of individuals with mental illness or developmental disability.

'Arkangel' is a futuristic technology which involves implanting a device into a child's brain, allowing parents to monitor their child's location and vital signs in real-time. Additionally, parents can use a tablet to see through the child's eyes, censor disturbing or sensitive images and events, and track their emotional state. The technology also enables parents to set boundaries and restrictions on what the child sees and experiences, effectively controlling their environment.

‘Apolitical humanitarianism’ describes traditional notions of humanitarianism, where humanitarian organisations value impartiality, neutrality, and recognition of state sovereignty. ‘Rights-based humanitarianism’ is often political, with its proponents willing to take stances in conflicts and neglect state sovereignty. For example, during the Nigerian Civil War, the International Committee of the Red Cross respected the Nigerian government’s decision to end the famine by disallowing agencies to provide food to the seceding Biafra. Another NGO, Oxfam, disregarded the Nigerian government’s directive by supplying aid to Biafra.
