The JPA scholarship is a full or partial scholarship offered to students that do well in their secondary school leaving examinations (SPM), or are awarded through an application process. Scholars are bonded to the government (must work for the government for a set number of years after they graduate).

In 2013, the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia changed the terms of the JPA scholarship, limiting the scholarship only to tertiary institutions within Malaysia although previous batches of JPA scholars were fully sponsored to study universities overseas.

For the purpose of this debate, "The Good Place" is a place in the afterlife. All humans are assigned a numerical score based on the morality of their conduct in life, and only those with the very highest scores are sent to the Good Place, where they enjoy eternal happiness with their every wish granted, while all others experience an eternity of torture in the Bad Place.
